3D GENERALIST
Masters of Reality is seeking an experienced Senior 3D Generalist to join our team. The successful candidate will be highly versatile across the 3D pipeline and capable of taking complex shots and assets from concept through to final render. As a senior, you will also help guide and mentor junior artists, contribute to problem-solving at a technical and creative level, and play a key role in delivering world-class visual effects for film, episodic, and commercial projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver high-quality 3D assets, environments, and shots across a wide range of disciplines (modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, lookdev, animation, rendering)
Work collaboratively with VFX Supervisors, CG Supervisors, and Compositors to ensure seamless integration and delivery of final shots
Lead by example in setting artistic and technical standards across the 3D department
Mentor and provide feedback to mid-level and junior 3D artists
Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and propose creative solutions
Assist with look development, ensuring photorealism and consistency across sequences
Contribute to efficient workflows and help refine pipeline processes when needed
Manage personal and small-team deadlines while maintaining quality under pressure
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years professional experience in a VFX, animation, or post-production studio environment.
Proven track record as a Generalist with credits on feature films, episodic, or high-end commercials.
Expert proficiency in Maya (or equivalent DCC), with strong skills across multiple disciplines.
High-level texturing and lookdev skills (Mari, Substance Painter/Designer).
Strong understanding of lighting and rendering workflows (Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, or equivalent).
Good knowledge of Houdini for procedural modeling, FX, or environments.
Familiarity with Nuke compositing workflows and integration.
Excellent artistic eye for realism, scale, composition, and detail.
Ability to balance hands-on shot work with leadership responsibilities.
Houdini FX experience (fluids, pyro, particles)
Rigging and animation skills
Knowledge of Unreal Engine or real-time pipelines
Python or scripting knowledge for automating workflows
Previous experience leading small teams or project sub-deliverables
